Bernae's post got me thinking about philosophy lessons in year 9.. One of the things we discussed what was friendship, and what makes friendship.
According to Aristotle, there are three reasons for friendship, and these three reasons are the same as why you would like an object:
1) usefulness
2) pleasure
3) goodness
Everyone was like, are you kidding, why would you want a friend that uses you. But apparently if both people feel the same way then the friendship can work.
E.g. you can have a friend that is only your friend because you two are the only people who like watching horror movies, and so you watch them together but never talk to each other outside of that.
This kind of friendship is shallow, obviously, but then again, so is number 2 - if you're only friends with someone because it's fun to hang out with them then circumstances can easily change and then they won't be your friend.
The third type is the lasting 'true friendship' type - if two people truly like each other and wish the best for each other simply because they like them for them, then the friendship is more likely to last. Also if you have this kind then you will probably also like to be around them (2) and they can help you (1). So, it's possible to have all three with the same person.
He goes into a lot more detail than that, but yeah..
iono
1s and 2s make me feel sort of uneasy. because you never really know what the other person thinks about the situation. but they're so much more common.

hehe thank you kimmaee. <3
Those are very good points.. It seems to me that No. 2 leads onto 3 if you spend enough time with each other. Number 1 however... makes me feel awkward.
maybe like me and you?
I truly like you for you
I enjoy spending time with you
and I use you for your food.
